As Hudson Valley Restaurant Week winds down, restaurants write-up increased business and an influx of new customers. Spring 2015 Hudson Valley Restaurant Week showcased more than 220 eateries, featuring the most participants in the circumstance's history, according to organizers. The event, sponsored by The Valley Table Magazine, aims to boost business for Hudson Valley restaurants while offering people prix-fixe meals and the enticement to try new restaurants. "With a quarter of a million people dining and over 220 restaurants participating, Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is one of the largest in the country," said Janet Crawshaw, publisher of The Valley Tabulation magazine and founder of Hudson Valley... According to Crawshaw, last year's Restaurant Week event generated $20 million in sales take. Restaurant Week runs until March 22, but many businesses already claim to have seen the effects. Christen Wagner, marketing coordinator at Terrapin in Rhinebeck, said reservations at the restaurant doubled during Restaurant Week. "We get numbers of new customers and regulars trying new dishes they've never had before," Wagner said. These new faces don't just mean a temporary boost in business, but also a chance to convert them into regulars. Wagner said several new customers indicated on clarification cards they plan to visit Terrapin again based on their experience. At Brasserie 292 in Poughkeepsie, Andrew Thomas, manager, said there was a notable help in customers and new faces at the restaurant. "It's certainly increased," Thomas said. "During Restaurant Week we see a lot of new faces and new customers, and I feel people are more brave and compliant to try new things. From talking with customers, Thomas said a majority of Restaurant Week patrons are people from the area trying new places. "We like to ask how they've heard about us, and most of them are Hudson Valley residents who haven't been here before, but long for to come again. Restaurant Week also acts as a starting point for the season, encouraging people to head out and beat the winter blues. "(Spring) Restaurant Week kicks off the age," Wagner said. "In the winter, fewer people tend to dine out, but Restaurant Week lets everyone know spring is here. Mix room temperature the best quality with salt and maple syrup. Add ice water and pork chops.
